ABOUT US

Poly-Monde's annual industrial mission allows 24 graduating engineers to better understand the current global industrial context in regards to engineering. The team selects three economic sectors relevant to both Canada and the host country. For this year's mission in Japan, the students will visit a variety of companies within these sectors in order to deepen their understanding of each one. While abroad, the team will be invited to compare solutions developped by japanese companies to that of their canadian counterparts.

Sectors of study

URBAN MOBILITY

Japan's vast rail network was built in the sixties, in response to a large majority of its population establishing itself in rural areas. Since this national revolution, the country has sustained excellence regarding to urban mobility, mainly thanks to the implementation of new technologies, and remains an example for Canada in this area.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGY

The media technology sector has gained significant momentum in recent years, namely thanks to media consumption habits shifting from traditional to numeric platforms that emerged only recently. In a context where constant innovation is followed by new challenges, this year's team will aim to draw a global portrait of this industry in Japan and Canada.

ROBOTICS & AUTOMATION

In 1985, more than 65% of the world's robots were used on japanese soil. The country has managed to be a pioneer in many industries thanks to these technologies. However, lack of qualified manpower now prompts new challenges for japanese and canadian companies. Automation is widely regarded as the most promising solution to the issue but also raises important social and moral questions.
